Descended from the wild Swan Goose, Brown African Geese are a medium sized goose, weighting 12-16lbs. They are very gentle and friendly. Females lay approximately 35-45 extra large white eggs per year. Brown African geese are well known for being excellent, active foragers - aka "weeding" geese. If you turn them out into your gardens or crops, they are known to eat up all the weeds, but not your plants. They are also known to be a curious, somewhat noisy breed that make excellent "guard" geese on homesteads with other animals. Eggs hatch in 30-32 days. Each gander can be mated with 2-6 geese.
